I was pretty excited when I learned about another adaptation of the famous Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. When it’s an adaptation the critic are harder since we all compare it to the original or what have been done before. Surprisingly, this anime is far from the original story, except the part that Romeo and Juliet will fall in love, but they are enemies because of their family.

The story starts in a stormy night where the Montagues (Romeo’s) are attacking the mansion of the royal Capulets (Juliet’s). They killed all the family except Juliet who is rescued by her father’s servants. Juliet is now  sole survivor of the Capulet family.

Fourteen years later, Juliet don’t remember of her past and have to live disguised as a guy, Odin. She don’t know why she have to disguised, all she know it’s that they’ll tell her once she turn 16. She is also an excellent swordsman and she dresses up as a vigilante, the Red Whirlwind, to help people against the Montagues. She still hates them even thought she don’t know they killed her family.

Juliet initially meets Romeo as the Red Whirlwind after he rescues her from the Montague guards on his pegasus (horses with wings). She wasn’t too nice saying that she don’t want any help from a noble. They will have love at first sight the moment their eyes meet at the Montague Rose Ball when she was finally dressed as a girl, but their didn’t introduce them self. They meet each other some days later in a field of irises and promised to met again the next day at the same place. That day was her 16th birthday and that night she was told that she was the sole survivor of the Capulet family who was murdered by the Montagues.

I absolutely love this adaptation. The art work and settings are totally nice. There is a nice romantic feelings in the animation. One of my favorites of April’s new anime series.
