As the other girl was also there he made it up so Guiche will be found out two timing. Guiche was really upset and challenge him for a duel. A duel between noble, who can do magic, but there is not rule between a commoner and a noble. Even if Louise tried to stop him, Saitou went. He said he can be treat like a dog, but he’ll never bow before someone like Guiche.

So at the duel, Guiche was able to summon a Golem and Saito was beaten badly. Since he didn’t want to give up, Guiche gave him a sword. After touching the sword, a mark on his hand (the mark of his contract with Louise) started growing, he became really good with he sword and defeat all the golem Guiche summoned. That’s when Kirche “felt in love with him”. After wining the duel, Saito collapsed.

We also learned that the mark on Saito hand is called a rune. His rune is a rune that exists only for familiar that exist only in legends. They said it concern the lost fifth side of the pentagone, but we don’t have more detail.
